The Political Science and Sociology Department (DISPO) was established in 1987 at the Political Science School, at the University of Florence. Its aim is to carry out research in social science as well as teaching. Several PhD Programs and Research Units are hosted at the DISPO. A high trained team composed by sociologists, which is awarded by national and international records, is specialized in the social policy studies, local development and employment policies. The competences owned by this team will be directly engaged in the Thematic Network.
The Emilia-Romagna Region (RER) is an autonomous territorial body within the Italian system of administrative decentralization, as recognised in the article 5 of the Italian Constitution. With reference to the activities to be put forward by the proposed network RER will participate with 2 of its structures:
a. the Department "Policies for Reception and Social Integration", within the General Department for Health and Social Policies, which is responsible for the following activities:
- management of regional projects on social integration, social protection, prostitution;
- management of financial contributions for the social integration of migrants;
- management of the Regional Observatory for immigration and coordination of the provincial observatories;
- fostering initiatives aimed at fighting poverty and social exclusion;
- management of subsidies for homeless people;
- periodical survey on wandering people in Emilia-Romagna;
- delivery of financial contributions to Town Councils in order to realize and restructuring areas intended for wandering people.
The Regional Government of Emilia-Romagna has adopted, in March 2004, a new regional law on immigrant integration (including asylum seekers and refugees), concerning language courses and cultural mediators, housing and health policies, intercultural communication activities, access to public services, information campaigns.
b. General Direction on organisation, Personnel and ICT systems: the DG is responsible for the Regional ICT Plan (Piano telematico dell’Emilia-Romagna – PiTER) a programme articulated in various initiatives (on infrastructures and services ) to be developed and implemented on the whole regional territory by the RER and all Local authorities. In the plan a specific set of actions is foreseen on “e adoption”, which will include initiatives in the realm of e inclusion, as defined by EU Commission papers. This is the regional framework where possible projects deriving from the participation to the proposed network can be implemented.
“Nosotras” is an intercultural association composed by women coming from different countries that are specialized, through many training courses, in Interculture and also in intercultural mediation.“Nosotras” has organised different meetings with Florence High Schools, treating the subjects of multiculturalism, racism and women rights. Our Association is also based on intercultural mediation, because through our multicultural staff we give advice to foreign women in difficulty.
Lunaria is a non-profit, non-confessional and independent association, free from political parties’ control and influence. It was founded in 1992 and it carries out research, training, and communication activities on fair economy and third sector, migrations and globalisation. It promotes initiatives concerning international volunteering and youth policies. Through its activities Lunaria experiments new forms of active participation and social transformation inspired by the principles of justice and social solidarity, democratic participation to community life, guarantee of civil, social and human rights in the national and international context.
Democracy, active participation, promotion of the voluntary commitment and of differences- starting from gender differences-, guarantee of the organisation’s staff rights, transparency in the relations with external subjects: these are the principles the association follows in its everyday life.
TRAINING 2000 is a VET (Vocational Education and Training) centre in the Marche Region-Italy, with experience in vocational training and continuous education with emphasis on socially and economically disadvantaged groups. During each year, this centre is responsible for the execution of different types of training in the region, including apprenticeship training.
