Institut of Mobile Technologies for Education and Culture

The Institute offers guidance in advanced technologies and provides various services, consultancy, trainings and developments for continuing education learners.
The Institute provides support for learners in their professional development as far as computer skills and knowledge of information technology are concerned. The Institute targets include promoting international co-operation based on applying new technologies and internet tools. The Institute:

  • Initiates and coordinates development of applications of innovative technologies in the process of education.
  • Initiates and coordinates international ICT in education and culture projects.
  • Promotes international co-operation of adult learners and students on a web and mobile technologies based learning platforms.
  • Promotes training courses on computer literacy and use of innovative technologies in education.
  • Develops and disseminates the mobile learning tools.
  • Organises and prosecutes research on the practices of the modern ICT in education and culture field.
  • Organises in-service courses for adults on how to use ICT and how to apply this knowledge in education.

Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation

Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK) is a biggest trade union centre in Lithuania, at the moment comprises twenty-six branches of trade unions. LPSK was set up on 1st May 2002 after the merger between two trade union centres: Lithuanian Trade Union Unification (LPSS) and Lithuanian Trade Union Centre (LPSC).

Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation is independent organization from government and managing authorities, from employers and their organizations and also from public organizations and movements.

LPSK is a member of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and cooperates with International Labour Organization (ILO).

The Distance Education Study Centre (DESC)

The Distance Education Study Centre of Riga Technical University is a unit of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. It was founded within the framework of the PHARE “Multi-country Co-operation in Distance Education” Programme in 1997. The objective of the Centre is to develop distance education in Latvia using innovative applications of information and communications technologies. The Centre’s mandate is to organise the development and adaptation of distance learning courses as well as the delivery of courses - involving academic staff from RTU and other Latvian higher education establishments. The Centre is participating in several EU projects in development and delivery of distance courses using collaborative Virtual Environments, videoconferencing and computer conferencing using it’s expertise in CD-ROM production, methodology for distance course development including quality issues. There is a trained staff and appropriate technologies for organising workshops, conferences and delivery of distance courses as well as experience in recruitment of course participants and course administration.

Dobele Adult Education Centre

Dobele Adult Education Centre (Dobele PIIC) has undergone a rapid growth and become a methodical and information centre for adult education in Dobele region. A lot of people from Dobele and its region as well as people from the neighbouring regions have been improving their knowledge and skills here, we provide an access to education depending on the learners' needs with the aim to share experience in integrating the disadvantaged adults from all generations and different cultural backgrounds We offer wide range of learning such as languages, ICT skills, and specific vocational training with the aim to improve the knowledge and be more competitive in the work market.
