The Political Science and Sociology Department - Florence University

The Political Science and Sociology Department (DISPO) was established in 1987 at the Political Science School, at the University of Florence. Its aim is to carry out research in social science as well as teaching. Several PhD Programs and Research Units are hosted at the DISPO. A high trained team composed by sociologists, which is awarded by national and international records, is specialized in the social policy studies, local development and employment policies. The competences owned by this team will be directly engaged in the Thematic Network.

Laboratori de Mitjans Interactius- Universitat de Barcelona

Within the University of Barcelona, the LMI, Interactive Media Laboratory, was created at the Pedagogy Faculty in 1988 as "Interactive Video Centre" and since then has been working in several national and European projects, most of them as a co-ordinator as well as in contracts with companies developing multimedia programmes, mainly for educational purposes.
Its three main competences are:
- e-Learning environments, courses and materials design
- Digital video supported web environments development
- Media literacy at excluded groups

The Academy of Humanities and Economics in Lodz

The University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz has had the status of an institution of higher education since 1993. It is the biggest non-public school in Poland and offers its students a wide range of faculties and specialisations. We have the rights to organize studies in 14 faculties, offering our students more than 100 specialisations, constantly updated according to market demands. In 2007 we gained the right to award PhDs in the following fields: linguistics in the field of humanities, informatics in the field of technical sciences, and plastic arts in the field of fine arts.

The AHE is the academy of modern technologies, boasting a professionally equipped publishing house, television studio, outpatient clinic and printing house, as well as the biggest – among non-public schools in the region – free-access library. We are the first and only school in Poland that offers a specialisation in Mainframe Systems – virtualisation, transaction, mass conversion etc.

The Distance Education Study Centre (DESC)

The Distance Education Study Centre of Riga Technical University is a unit of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. It was founded within the framework of the PHARE “Multi-country Co-operation in Distance Education” Programme in 1997. The objective of the Centre is to develop distance education in Latvia using innovative applications of information and communications technologies. The Centre’s mandate is to organise the development and adaptation of distance learning courses as well as the delivery of courses - involving academic staff from RTU and other Latvian higher education establishments. The Centre is participating in several EU projects in development and delivery of distance courses using collaborative Virtual Environments, videoconferencing and computer conferencing using it’s expertise in CD-ROM production, methodology for distance course development including quality issues. There is a trained staff and appropriate technologies for organising workshops, conferences and delivery of distance courses as well as experience in recruitment of course participants and course administration.
